Face to face
Just Talk Face to Face
Typing hides everything that matters: the pause, the eyebrow, the laugh that arrives half a second late. Video keeps all of it. That is the only reason this site is built around a camera.
LiveThe same sentence, two ways
Read this exchange as text. Then imagine hearing it. The words do not change; everything else does.
Flat, ambiguous, possibly over.
On camera
You would have heard the shrug in "nothing interesting", seen her laugh at it, and known the "ok" meant go on then. Same three lines, completely different conversation.
- You can tell when someone is joking
- You can tell when someone is bored
- You can tell when to stop talking
- You find out in a minute, not a week
Talking on video
Why video instead of text?
Tone and timing. A three-word answer on video carries more information than three paragraphs typed — you can hear whether someone means it.
What if I am shy on camera?
Most people are, for about a minute. Start with a question instead of a statement, and remember the other person is just as exposed as you are.
Do I have to talk the whole time?
No. Silence on a video call is only awkward if you decide it is. Some of the best conversations here have long pauses in them.
Can I keep talking to someone afterwards?
Yes — the platform supports following someone and messaging later, so a good conversation does not have to end when the call does.
