A blank wall reads as a hostage video. A shelf reads as a person with a life.

They kill echo instantly and let you hear someone with a bad microphone.
Cam chat versus everything else
Cam chat is not streaming and it is not a group room. There is no audience, no viewer count, and nothing to broadcast. One camera points at you, one points at them, and the session exists only while you are both in it.

What is cam chat?
A conversation over webcam with someone you have not met. On this site it is one-to-one: your camera, their camera, nobody else in the room.
Do I need a webcam on a laptop?
Most laptops have one built in. If yours does not, a phone browser works just as well — the site runs the same either way.
Why is my camera black?
Usually another app is already holding it — video call software, a recorder, another tab. Close those and reload. The camera guide walks through the rest.
Can I try my camera before matching?
Yes, on this page. Press "Test my camera" and the preview runs locally in your browser. Nothing is sent anywhere and nobody sees it.
Is cam chat anonymous?
The other person sees your face and hears your voice, so it is not anonymous in that sense. What they do not get is your name, your accounts or your location unless you hand them over.
