Two people. That's it.
1v1 Video Chat, Face to Face
One screen each. No room full of usernames, no audience, nobody waiting for their turn. A 1v1 video chat is the smallest possible social format — and the only one where the other person is actually listening.
18+ · either person can end the call at any point
AzulWhat changes when the audience leaves
Group rooms run on attention. Take the crowd away and the incentives flip.
Nobody is performing
In a public room the loudest line wins. In a 1v1 chat there is no crowd to play to, so people mostly just talk.
Questions get finished
No sidebar scrolling past your sentence. The person in front of you either answers or does not.
Leaving is cheap
No audience means no scene when a conversation ends. One tap, next person, no explanation.
One person is a different conversation
A crowded room rewards whoever talks over everyone else. With one person there is nothing to win, so the conversation goes somewhere instead: follow-up questions, a story that takes two full minutes to tell, a pause that nobody rushes to fill.
That is what makes a 1v1 video chat feel personal. You see their face when they answer and they see yours. Three questions in, you are not managing an impression for a room — you are just talking to a person, face to face.
1v1 versus the other shapes
| Format | Who can hear you | Cost of leaving |
|---|---|---|
| 1v1 video chat | One person | One tap, no scene |
| Group video room | Everyone present | Visible exit, awkward |
| Livestream | The whole audience | You were never in it |
| Text DMs | One person, eventually | Slow fade over days |

1v1 questions
What does 1v1 video chat mean?
Two people in one live video conversation. No group room, no audience, no third person able to listen in.
Can someone else join the call?
No. The format is strictly two people. To talk to someone else you end or skip the current match and meet the next person.
Is a 1v1 video chat private?
It is not public: nobody can browse into your conversation and there is no spectator chat. Treat it like any live call — do not show anything you would not want a stranger to have seen.
How is this different from a video call with a friend?
You are not exchanging numbers or links. Matching introduces you to someone new, and either of you can end it without the social cost of hanging up on a friend.
Can I switch to text instead?
Text chat exists alongside video on the platform, so a conversation can continue in messages after the call ends.
